There is scope for particularly skilled candidates to do more and to use technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our work.
Position Description
- Be proactive and effective in advocating the use of appropriate technology solutions across the work of the UPG Community
- Provide leadership both internally and externally on matters related to information technology
- Identify and act on opportunities to improve and update digital ecosystems
- Proficient in setting up and managing workplace productivity tools, including databases
- Developing and managing IT policy and best practice guides that are consistent with the mission of the organization.
- Knowledge of Learning Management systems is an advantage
- Website management, specifically sites using WordPress and WordPress plugins
- Proficiency with using mainstream digital tools, including apps
- Understand and implement processes to monitor and protect network and data security
- Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems administration
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software
- Train employees on technology related matters; provide technical support when needed
- Develop and execute disaster procedures, and maintain data backups
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications and participating in professional societies.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required in Computer Science or Information Technology. A Master’s Degree is a strong advantage.
- Candidate cares about the mission of the organization
- Prior experience working in a similar technology leadership role is an asset
- Prior experience working with a community is a strong advantage
- Strong co-ordination and/or project management skills
- Ability to work in ambiguous settings; Ability to work alone and in a team
- Confidante: Be able to work with sensitive material and to keep activities confidential
- Resilience: in particular, the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Self-starter: the ability to work on your own initiative
- Any other expertise / professional training is an added advantage
- Proven leadership skills are an advantage
- Strong knowledge of current issues related to technology and society.
Location: The role is remote
Dates: The initial duration is 12 months for this role. Extension is possible based on performance.
Remuneration: This role is paid competitively.
